Peter-Andreas Bochmann leaves to serve FNF in Bulgaria

The Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit started its work in the region in 1991, shortly after the fall of the Iron Curtain in Central and Eastern Europe. Since then a lot of things were achieved: democratic pluralistic political systems were established; the human and civil rights are respected; Bulgaria and Romania are already members of NATO and the European Union; the partner liberal parties in Bulgaria and Romania are engaged in the governments of both countries. This development is also an evidence for the success of the Foundation and of its long lasting cooperation with liberal parties, think tanks and personalities. Now the Foundation’s work in all four countries is focused on the strengthening of the liberal partner parties and the deepening of the political dialogue in the region and beyond.

This clearly shows the change of the working environment and challenges than that of South Asia where the seed of Liberalism has just been sown and needs patience of years to witness its growth before coming to full bloom.

He would assume his duties from November after the preparatory period of two months at the Headquarters in Germany.
