There is a dire need for the promotion of liberal values in the terrorism stricken society of Pakistan where the subsequent prevailing uncertainty and declining economy promises no future to investors. These propositions were debated during the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit (FNF) Partners’ Meeting on 2nd August 2008 at Islamabad.
During the meeting the liberal civil society organizations working in partnership of FNF also explored the opportunities of collaboration with each other in concurrence with common areas of interest. The representatives of four major partners i.e. Liberal Forum Pakistan, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Shehri- Citizens for Better Environment and Society for the Protection of Rights of the Child presented synopsis of their over all activities in general and FNF supported activities in particular. The two informal liberal networks, FreedomGate Pakistan and Economic Freedom Network Pakistan also shared the status of their work plans of 2007-2008.
The succeeding vibrant deliberations focussed on the current vista of political and economic challenges; the possible liberal solutions and being convincingly heard in the corridors of power becoming the voice of the people through effective advocacy campaigning.
