The concept launched by the International e-Academy for Leadership of the Foundation for Freedom (Stiftung für die Freiheit) was recognized at the Hannover CeBIT Information Technology Trade Show with the European award for e-Learning “eureleA 2008“. It led the race in the “associations and foundations” category and made it at last to defeat the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft für Angewandte Forschung (Fraunhofer Association for Applied Sciences) and the Verein interculture e.V. (Intercultural Association). Before an estimated audience of about 100 guests, the Secretary of the Interior, Schünemann, from Lower Saxony presented the prize. The European award for e-Learning “European E-Learning Award” (eureleA) celebrates those innovative learning and training projects that apply electronic teaching and learning methods.
The scholar-integrated jury had selected 20 projects out of more than 70 presented by eight countries for the final round. A senior jury under the leadership of Prof. Henning from the Karlsruhe University selected the prized projects on the six categories during a closed-door meeting.

The concept of the seminars imparted by the International e-Academy is as follows: During a first on-line phase, the preliminary foundations for an attended seminar are explained; this seminar is conducted by the International e-Academy for Leadership (Internationale Akademie für Führungskräfte, IAF) at the Theodor Heuss Academy in Gummersbach. From the around 90 participants, the 25 best ones are selected to attend the seminar in Gummersbach and they are subsequently invited to take part in a global liberal network.
