Why was it started ?
PEOPLE’S FORUM is a tool specially created to enhance and promote “Active Citizenship” which is the underlying principle of a democratic state. PEOPLE’S FORUM improves Governance and brings Accountability and Transparency within our society. PEOPLE’S FORUM strengthens democratic structures by ensuring a dialogue between the various stakeholders in the society.
What does it do ?
PEOPLE’S FORUM provides a platform to the citizens to interact with the various service-providers in the city and address the problems faced by the citizens. PEOPLE'S FORUM bridges the gap between the service providers and the consumers of these services. The PEOPLE’S FORUM provides an opportunity to the citizens to air their grievances, comment and give suggestions to get a satisfactory answer to their queries.
How does it work ?
PEOPLE’S FORUM is not a platform for citizens only. It brings the service providers to face the consumers not only to answer their queries but also to understand the shortcomings faced by their clients in their providing the service. It provides an opportunity to the service providers to improve the quality of their service and thus have an ensured market for their services. It also provides an opportunity to the service providers to clarify their limitations and express their viewpoint on the nature of services provided.
Finally, PEOPLE’S FORUM is a platform for the policy makers to understand the problems faced by the consumers and the service providers and to take the right decisions in their legislative framework
Hence, PEOPLE’S FORUM is a forum of the people, by the people and for the people.
