THE ART OF ASKING

The participants set about defining the importance of fund-raising needed to run a successful organization. They got valuable tips of organizing fund-raising. The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Mr. Nivard Cabraal delivered a key note speech on the “Fundamentals of Fund Raising”. Mr. Siegfried Herzog, the FNSt Resident Representative for Philippines, discussed how to formulate strategies for fund raising. Mr. Emil Kirjas, the immediate past president of the IFLRY, presented the case of IFLRY as a study of Fund raising for youth organizations. Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, M.P. and the Chairman of the IDL, discussed the status quo between “political promises and actual deliverance”. Mr. Ranel Wijesinha, Chartered Accountant and Management Consultant made a presentation on the “Dos and don’t of fund raising”. Nepali Youth Initiative Advisor Dil Prasad Shrestha introduced the means of Crafting Fund raising plans to the participants.

The Participants also had an opportunity to listen to the former Mayor of Kensington & Chelsea, Mr. Warwick Lightfoot, who delivered the Dr. Chanaka Amaratunga (Founder of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka) memorial lecture titled “The British Model of Devolution & Local Government in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland”.

Twenty Three members representing the liberal youth chapters from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Cambodia & Hong Kong attended the workshop.
